Faster and more functional water data now available

4 MAY 2023

The latest water data is now faster and more up-to-date than ever before, thanks to updates to WaterNSW’s WaterInsights platform.

Farmers, irrigators, industry, government and general users can use the platform to have practical water information at their fingertips and intuitively personalise the data to meet their needs and those of their businesses.

“We’ve listened to feedback from our customers and stakeholders and have updated WaterInsights to reflect what people want from water data,” WaterNSW Chief Information Officer, Ian Robinson, said.

WaterInsights is now refreshed every fifteen minutes, and collates data from the Bureau of Meteorology, Murray Darling Basin Authority, Department of Planning and Environment, and WaterNSW systems.

There is now more information than ever before in one place, available more quickly and with better functionality, helping people make decisions and add value to their use of water services.

The platform includes information on water volumes in storage, used and traded, as well as water availability, allocation, and account balances. Water quality, river flows and levels, and historical data is also available, along with rules and conditions around water management.

“These updates are part of our ongoing commitment to digital transformation and modernising our systems and processes to make life easier and simpler for our customers,” Mr Robinson said.

“We will continue to listen to the feedback of our customers and the community to make WaterInsights as useful as possible.”
