Pesticide use notice
9 FEBRUARY 2023As required under the Pesticides Regulation 2009 WaterNSW gives notice of weed and pest control work by WaterNSW or approved contractors in the following locations within the Sydney drinking water declared catchment:
Recreation areas
- Warragamba Dam
- Woronora Dam
- Metropolitan Dams (Cataract, Cordeaux, Avon & Nepean)
- Wingecarribee Reservoir
- Fitzroy Fall Special Area (including fishing and picnic area)
- Bendeela and Tallowa Dam
- Little Bombay, Stuart Crossing and Warri camp grounds on the Shoalhaven River
- Lake Yarrunga (Tallowa Dam) foreshore within the Shoalhaven Special Area
- Area known as “Barrallier”. within the Warragamba Special Area
The pesticides, Grazon Extra, Roundup Biactive, Brush Off, MCPA, Kamba M, Taskforce and Starane (or their generic equivalents) will be applied to control weeds as permitted including Lantana, Blackberry, Fire Weed, Serrated Tussock, Wild Tree Tobacco, Privet, African Lovegrass, Willows, Cape Ivy, Bindii, Broom, Gorse, Pampas Grass, Prickly Pear, bindii, flat weed, Eucalypt and other regrowth, exotic grasses and environmental weeds.
The pesticides pindone and 1080 will be used to control rabbits, wild dogs, fox and feral pigs.
Additionally specific insecticides, rodenticides, fungicides, and termiticides may be used as required.
This program is scheduled at these locations for the period 8 February 2023 to 7 February 2024
Water NSW ensures that pesticides are applied in a safe, responsible manner, minimising harm to community and the environment. Appropriate signage will be placed on site.
